Unlike other regions of the country, Florida enjoys a much more subtle transition from summer to fall. As the air fills with a brisk cool, summer gives way to a host of activities that are best enjoyed after the changing of the seasons. With so many incredible options within a one-hour drive of Deland FL, it’s easy to share memorable experiences with friends and family right down the road. Read on as the Alsbrooks Team breaks down 4 of the best attractions to visit once the temperature drops.

Biketoberfest (24.5 miles)

Every year, over 100,000 motorcycle enthusiasts descend on Daytona Beach to partake in a week-long celebration of all things bike-related! Fortunately, you don’t need a bike of your own to still make the brief trek across I-4 and indulge in the plethora of shows, rallies, live music, and scenic rides that are available along the beautiful stretch of A1A. Be sure to visit Daytona Beach between October 14th and 17th to witness this spectacle.

Mount Dora Craft Fair (29.9 miles)

Just one week later, the streets of historic downtown Mount Dora come alive with this two-day craft festival! Labelled as “Central Florida’s biggest and best annual craft festival,” over 400 exhibitors from around the country show off their amazing work amidst a friendly small-town atmosphere that includes festival food, music, and alcohol for adults. This year, be one of the over 250,000 visitors who visit beautiful Mount Dora for this experience.

Scott’s Maze Adventures (37.3 miles)

What once started as a mere 7-acre corn field has become one of Mount Dora’s most beloved fall traditions. Here, you can find offerings that are sure to entice guests of every age. Kids are free to let loose on a huge jumping pillow, a 60-foot slide, and a castle-themed playground. When you’re ready to enter the maze, you can choose between an extensive 6.5-acre labyrinth or the bite-sized 0.5-acre mini maze! Equal parts educational and fun, Scott’s Maze Adventures open up October 1st. Don’t forget to stock up on fresh vegetables and homemade jams at the country food market before you leave!

Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights (49.5 miles)

If you like the thrills and chills of Halloween, then you’ll love Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights. From now until the end of October, this amusement park fills up with ghastly haunted houses, scare zones, and even hordes of the walking undead.
